Who is responsible

MACA Tours & Adventures, the business of Mauricio Otero, based in Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras. For anything related to privacy, message us on WhatsApp at +504 9305 4925 or info@macatours.com.

What data we collect

What you give us when you ask a question or book, on WhatsApp or through the forms: name, phone number, email address, activity, date and time, number of adults and children, hotel or pickup point and, for transfers, your flight details. The reservation-change form also asks for the reason. When you send a booking, your acceptance of the terms is recorded with the date and time.

How the forms work

The forms store nothing on this website: no database, no user accounts. When you send one, WhatsApp opens with a pre-written message that you choose to send, and a copy of the request reaches our email through FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), a form-forwarding service. That copy keeps requests from getting lost and records that you accepted the terms.

Why we use it

To reply to you, confirm availability and manage your booking, pickup, payment, changes or cancellation, because the service you ask for requires it (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR); and to keep a record of what was agreed and meet our accounting and legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) and (f)). We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Who it is shared with

• WhatsApp, run by Meta, where we talk with you (WhatsApp privacy policy).
• FormSubmit, which forwards the forms to our email.
• PayPal, if you pay by card through a PayPal link; we never see your card details (PayPal privacy).
• Netlify, which hosts this website and logs technical data about each visit, such as your IP address (Netlify privacy).
• Google Fonts: the site’s typefaces load from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address (Google Fonts privacy).

If you booked through Viator or another platform, that platform applies its own policy. These services may process data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses no cookies and no advertising pixels. To learn how many people visit, it uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless tool that sets no identifiers, does not track individual visitors and only provides aggregate counts (page views, country and device type). It sets no cookies. Apart from that, it only stores the language you choose in your browser (local storage, under the name maca-language), which never leaves your device. Apart from Cloudflare Web Analytics, Google’s typefaces and the copy sent to FormSubmit, it loads nothing from third parties: photos, videos and reviews are served from our own hosting.

How long we keep it

As long as your question or booking needs, then whatever our accounting and legal records require. What we no longer need, we delete.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to its use, and receive a copy: message us on WhatsApp at +504 9305 4925 or info@macatours.com and we will reply within one month at the latest. If you live in the European Union, you can also complain to the data protection authority of your country.

Photos and videos

We take photos and videos during the tours. We only publish images in which you appear if you give us permission, and we take them down if you ask.

Children

Bookings are made by an adult. For children we only ask how many are coming; we do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes to this policy

If we change it, we will publish the new version here with its date.
